James A. Rice, age 90, well known retired brick mason of Roachdale died at the home of his son, Clarence at 8 o’clock Saturday morning from infirmities of old age after a long illness. Mr. Rice, who was a prominent citizen had been an invalid for the past 16 years.  Mr. Rice was born near Carpentersville 90 years ago the son of Strauder and Lucy Rice. He was married to Sarah McKee on Feb 5, 1863.  His wife preceded him in death a number of years ago. Mr. Rice passed the greater part of his life in Roachdale.  He was a life long member of the Roachdale Trinity Baptist Church. The deceased is survived by three sons and one daughter. The sons are Clarence and Frank living in Roachdale and Fred, who resides in Indianapolis.  Mrs. Nettie Rusie the daughter, also lives in Indianapolis. Three grandsons, two granddaughters and five great grandchildren also survive.  Funeral services were held at Roachdale by Rev. Airhart of Crawfordsville.  Interment was at Fillmore. - kbz
